Best Barber Clippers & Trimmers 2026
Tools from our catalogue, sorted by the job you are buying them for.
How this list is put together
Every tool here is in our catalogue, and we left out anything we currently list as unavailable. The choices come from manufacturer specifications and from how working barbers use each kind of tool. We do not run a testing lab, and the scores on the product pages are our own judgement, not measurements.
Runtimes and weights below are the figures the manufacturers list. Real battery life depends on the hair, the blade and how often you stop to blend.
Clipper or trimmer first?
If you can buy only one, buy the clipper. It does the bulk of every cut and all of the fade work. A trimmer comes second, for outlines, necklines and the small spots a full-size head cannot reach. Most barbers end up with both, but the order matters when the budget is tight.
Clippers, by the job
Daily fades and blending
- Wahl 5-Star Magic Clip Cordless. Built around a stagger-tooth blade for soft transitions. Wahl lists up to 100 minutes of runtime, which covers a normal day of fades if you charge it overnight. We compare it with the Senior in a separate guide. Magic Clip vs Senior. Full review โ
- Wahl Vapor Cordless Clipper. A newer Wahl clipper with a wide Fadeout blade aimed at fade work. Wahl lists 150 minutes of runtime, so look here if the Magic Clip's battery is what holds you back. Full review โ
Heavier blends and clipper-over-comb
- Wahl 5-Star Senior Cord/Cordless #08504-400. A metal lower housing and a planted feel in the hand, which suits clipper-over-comb work. The listed runtime is 80 minutes, the shortest on this page, so keep the cord or a charger close on busy days. Full review โ
Long shifts
- Andis Recon Vector. Andis puts the four-hour runtime in the product name, and that is the reason to look at it. It weighs 12.2 oz, which is not light, so set the battery against how your wrist feels at the end of a day. Full review โ
Clients who flinch at noise
- Andis Zephyr Quiet Cordless. A two-speed rotary motor designed to be quieter, useful for children and for clients who are sensitive to sound. Andis lists up to two hours of runtime and 9.3 oz. Full review โ
Taking it down to the skin
- Wahl 5-Star Balding Clipper #8110. Corded, so there is no battery to track. It is a finishing tool for bald work, not an all-day fade clipper, and it earns its place as a second machine. Full review โ
Trimmers, by the job
Ears, temples and tight spots
- Andis Slimline Pro Li. A slim, lightweight body that gets into places a full-size trimmer blocks. Andis lists up to two hours of runtime. Full review โ
Lineups and outlines
- Andis GTX-EXO Cordless Trimmer. A 7,200 SPM rotary motor, 100 minutes of listed runtime and a charging stand in the box. It suits a barber who does a lot of lineups and wants the tool to sit on a station. Full review โ
- Wahl 5-Star Cordless Detailer Li. An extra-wide zero-overlap T-blade for sharp outlines and beard edges. Wahl lists 100 minutes of runtime. Full review โ
USB-C charging and long runtime
- BaBylissPRO FX+ Cord/Cordless Trimmer. Charges over USB-C and lists 150 minutes of runtime, with a cord option if the battery runs low. Full review โ
- Supreme Trimmer Vader ST3778. Lists 210 minutes of runtime, USB-C charging and an LED battery indicator, which saves you guessing how much is left. Full review โ

Check these before you order
- Match the exact model number, not only the name. Brands sell several versions of the same clipper, and the listing should say which guards, charger and warranty come with it.
- Look at who sells it and what the return terms are. A price far below the others often means a different regional version or missing accessories.
- Confirm that spare blades and guards for that model are easy to find, because you will need them.
Keep them working
A well-kept mid-range tool outlasts a neglected expensive one. Brush the hair out, disinfect as the product label says, and oil the blade. The routines are in our guides on blade maintenance and clipper care.

Short FAQ
Do I need a separate trimmer?
Not on day one. A clipper with a detailing blade covers a lot. A trimmer starts paying off when you do daily lineups or beard work.
Cordless or corded?
Cordless moves better around the head, corded never runs out. We go through the trade-off in our cordless vs corded guide. Cordless vs corded
How are the scores on the product pages decided?
They are our judgement from manufacturer specifications and how each tool is used. We do not test products, and we do not use Amazon ratings.
